Week 3

On monday i went over King High Remembers and the letter to give to parents. Also if you have a veteran to invite we need as many as we can get. I reviewed at the end the perfect storm and went through each square.

We then did an assignemnt in google classroom. Students should do it on their google doc in the assingment and submit it by thursday night.

Thursday we finished that assignment and then looked at the next step. How the government would respond to this depression.Hoover was in charge and while his ideas didn't work, he gave it a go.

Week 2 of semester

This week we continued looking at the 1920's which concluded on thursday with our quiz. Monday-Wed we finished looking at the Harlem Ren. We also looked at the Red Scare and Trials of Sacco and Vanzetti. We briefly talked about Superficial Prosperity from the book and how it collided we people having a ton of new opportunities to purchase things but how that conflicted with having to purchase it on credit. Buying things on credit allowed everyone to have all they desired but what consequences will come with that? At the end of wed students quickly looked at women and it's changing role in America.

On friday we began looking at the great depression with the stock market crashing and banks closing. We finished by using the book to look at all the causes of the depression and how it was a perfect storm all at once.

Week 1 of second semester

We began looking at Unit 5 the ups and downs of the 1920's and 1930's. They key things we looked at this week were prohibition and why America decided to get rid of it. I showed part of King High Remembers documentary to show what you will be participating in later this semester. We talked a little about how America was dividing along the lines of big city vs small towns. The scopes trial reflected this. We also briefly looked at the Harlem Renissance. Students needed to find their own poem from the time and analyze how it reflected this time period.

We either continued or began to look at how wwi ended. The big idea with this is that it will eventually be the roots of wwii. their were two plans for the end of the war. One based on peace the other on punishment. Punishment will be what is chosen.
